Standing Up for Working Families: Illinois Republicans Fight for Tax Relief on Tips

📰 Standing Up for Working Families

Illinois working families deserve tax relief — not political games.

When Governor J.B. Pritzker and Democratic lawmakers blocked state-level tax relief on tips, they chose politics over the people who rely on that income to pay rent, buy groceries, and support their families.

Service workers already face rising costs, higher taxes, and fewer opportunities in Illinois. Refusing to align state tax policy with federal relief only makes things worse and puts Illinois workers at a disadvantage compared to other states.

As Republicans, we believe workers should keep more of what they earn, especially those grinding every day in restaurants, bars, delivery jobs, and the service economy.

Why This Matters

Tip income is critical for thousands of Illinois families working in the service industry. While federal tax relief has been proposed to help these workers keep more of their hard-earned money, Illinois Democrats have chosen to block similar relief at the state level.

This decision prioritizes political posturing over practical help for working families who need it most.

What Republicans Stand For

Republicans believe in:

  • Lower taxes for working families
  • Economic freedom and opportunity for service workers
  • Policies that help, not hurt, hardworking Illinoisans

Service industry workers deserve better than political games. They deserve leaders who will fight for their paychecks, not against them.
